Val Theisz

Head of Quality and Strategy
Val is a Regulatory Affairs professional with over 15 years of experience in medical devices,
including life-sustaining, high risk active implantables;
She has a Masters degree in electrical engineering and holds Regulatory Affairs Certification credentials
for EU and U.S. regulations (RAC EU, RAC US) from the U.S.-based
Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS);
Val has held regulatory management positions in both established and start-up companies in Australia;
Val’s experience within the field covers the entire product lifecycle including submissions
and pre-market approvals in established markets (CE Marking, FDA 510k and PMA,
TGA registration, Health Canada licences); and post-market ongoing compliance.

James has more than 15 years’ experience in medtech, spanning product delivery, strategy, leadership, operations, and technology innovation. He specialises in taking ideas and research through to market, with a proven track record in product development and operations.
His expertise includes deep tech, automation, data, and AI applied to the medical industry. James is also an operator and advisor supporting medtech and deep tech commercialisation, with a reputation for tenacity in delivering breakthrough technologies to global markets.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering, a Bachelor of Medical Science, and an MBA, all from the University of Sydney.

Edwina Lim

Medtech Commercialisation Consultant
Edwina is a seasoned medical device product leader and new venture builder, with more than 15 years’ experience across the full lifecycle of product development and commercialisation.
She is the Co-founder and COO of Mimetic Medtech Foundry and has held senior global product and leadership roles at Nanosonics, ResMed, and MSA Safety.
Her expertise lies in guiding early-stage innovations through complex pathways to market adoption, partnering with clinical innovators to build scalable global medtech ventures.
Edwina holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, an MBA, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

and product led Australian companies. He was founder & MD of MST Global from 1989-2018.
Gary was the first seed investor and mentor in Group Homes Australia from 2014
a new concept dementia aged care facility with 17 homes across Sydney;
He is Chairman of IBD Medical a diabetes product design and distribution company
servicing international markets for people suffering Type 1 & 2 diabetes;
Gary holds a BEng from UNSW where he is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board
for the Engineering Faculty as well as a Hon Fellow of Eng. Aust & Fellow of ATSE.

Previously, Bronwyn was a Senior Vice President in Clinical & Regulatory at Cochlear Limited (ASX: COH),
a leading hearing device company headquartered in Australia. Other executive roles include
VP of Finance at ISO (International Standards Organisation) and Asia Service Manager at GE Healthcare;
Bronwyn has served on many boards including John Holland Ltd, Medical Technologies
and Pharmaceuticals Industry Growth Centre, Medical Technology Association of Australia
and Digital Health CRC.

Professor Graham Newstead

Colorectal surgeon for over 45 years, with specialty expertise in proctology, awarded an AM for Australasian and international education, specialty training and for the promotion of health awareness initiatives
Adjunct Professorial post at UNSW, Medical Director of Bowel Cancer Australia and Chairman of the International Council of Coloproctology.
Founding Secretary of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ), later President and then CEO. He established the CSSANZ Foundation.
Advisor to the International Committee of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
He has held several Research Fellowships, has been a senior negotiator in Federal Governmental activities relating to bowel health programmes and has written many publications and book chapters.
Graham holds Fellowships by examination in Surgery from Australasia, the United Kingdom and the USA, and has been awarded Honorary Fellowships by the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Royal Society of Medicine, the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland, the American College of Surgeons and the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.
