Greg Plamondon

Chief Executive Officer

Senior medical device executive with more than 25 years’ experience across both early-stage ventures and established global organisations.

Brings deep expertise in advancing patient care through innovation and commercial execution.

Proven track record in developing and delivering growth strategies that support rapid scale-up and market expansion.

Has held senior leadership roles with Saluda Medical and Cochlear in Australia and the United States.

Ed Hutcherson

Business Development

With over 20 years experience working in healthcare across ANZ and Asia, Ed is passionate about bringing new technologies to market.

Ed has held positions in Sales Management, Marketing and Market Development, for some of the industry’s largest organisations.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Sydney, and a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Val Theisz

Head of Quality and Strategy

Val is a Regulatory Affairs professional with over 15 years of experience in medical devices,
including life-sustaining, high risk active implantables;

She has a Masters degree in electrical engineering and holds Regulatory Affairs Certification credentials
for EU and U.S. regulations (RAC EU, RAC US) from the U.S.-based
Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS);

Val has held regulatory management positions in both established and start-up companies in Australia;

Val’s experience within the field covers the entire product lifecycle including submissions
and pre-market approvals in established markets (CE Marking, FDA 510k and PMA,
TGA registration, Health Canada licences); and post-market ongoing compliance.

James Bencke

Head of Product and Operations

James has more than 15 years’ experience in medtech, spanning product delivery, strategy, leadership, operations, and technology innovation. He specialises in taking ideas and research through to market, with a proven track record in product development and operations.

His expertise includes deep tech, automation, data, and AI applied to the medical industry. James is also an operator and advisor supporting medtech and deep tech commercialisation, with a reputation for tenacity in delivering breakthrough technologies to global markets.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering, a Bachelor of Medical Science, and an MBA, all from the University of Sydney.

Edwina Lim

Medtech Commercialisation Consultant

Edwina is a seasoned medical device product leader and new venture builder, with more than 15 years’ experience across the full lifecycle of product development and commercialisation.

She is the Co-founder and COO of Mimetic Medtech Foundry and has held senior global product and leadership roles at Nanosonics, ResMed, and MSA Safety.

Her expertise lies in guiding early-stage innovations through complex pathways to market adoption, partnering with clinical innovators to build scalable global medtech ventures.

Edwina holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, an MBA, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

Gary Zamel

Founder in 2016 of New Medtek Devices

Serial Entrepreneur with 35 years experience in establishing, scaling and exiting technology
and product led Australian companies. He was founder & MD of MST Global from 1989-2018.
Gary was the first seed investor and mentor in Group Homes Australia from 2014
a new concept dementia aged care facility with 17 homes across Sydney;

He is Chairman of IBD Medical a diabetes product design and distribution company
servicing international markets for people suffering Type 1 & 2 diabetes;

Gary holds a BEng from UNSW where he is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board
for the Engineering Faculty as well as a Hon Fellow of Eng. Aust & Fellow of ATSE.

Professor David Lubowski

Medical Director

Colorectal surgeon with 30 years surgical experience;

Conjoint Professor in surgery, University of New South Wales;

Head of Dept of Colorectal Surgery,and Head Division of Surgery, St George Hospital, Sydney;

David has published over 120 papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals,
and 21 chapters in textbooks. He is the colorectal specialty editor, Australian and
New Zealand Journal of Surgery

He is a Foundation Member, Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand;
Fellow, Royal Society of Medicine, England; and
Member, American Association for Advancement of Science.

Leslie Butterfield

Non-Executive Director

Leslie has spent 14 years as CEO and Regional Managing Director for a listed multi-national
professional services firm;

25+ years of Non-Executive Director and Adviser experience across government; listed, large
and small private; and start-up companies;

Wide-ranging commercialisation expertise including in manufacturing, medical and
IT products and services;

Project Management and Management consultant background, specialising in organisational
development, the scale up of businesses and products / processes / services, and the use
of disruptive technologies and innovative thinking to drive business growth;

Leslie holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Rennselaer, NY.

Dr Bronwyn Evans

Experienced healthcare executive with experience leading organisations across industry
and governmental bodies;

Currently CEO of Engineers Australia, Chair of the Building4.0 CRC
and until recently CEO of Standards Australia;

Previously, Bronwyn was a Senior Vice President in Clinical & Regulatory at Cochlear Limited (ASX: COH),
a leading hearing device company headquartered in Australia. Other executive roles include
VP of Finance at ISO (International Standards Organisation) and Asia Service Manager at GE Healthcare;

Bronwyn has served on many boards including John Holland Ltd, Medical Technologies
and Pharmaceuticals Industry Growth Centre, Medical Technology Association of Australia
and Digital Health CRC.

Professor Graham Newstead

Colorectal surgeon for over 45 years, with specialty expertise in proctology, awarded an AM for Australasian and international education, specialty training and for the promotion of health awareness initiatives

Adjunct Professorial post at UNSW, Medical Director of Bowel Cancer Australia and Chairman of the International Council of Coloproctology.

Founding Secretary of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ), later President and then CEO. He established the CSSANZ Foundation.

Advisor to the International Committee of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

He has held several Research Fellowships, has been a senior negotiator in Federal Governmental activities relating to bowel health programmes and has written many publications and book chapters.

Graham holds Fellowships by examination in Surgery from Australasia, the United Kingdom and the USA, and has been awarded Honorary Fellowships by the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Royal Society of Medicine, the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland, the American College of Surgeons and the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.

Dr Steven D Wexner

Colorectal surgeon with over 38 years of clinical, academic, and research experience; currently the Physician Executive Director and System Chief of Colorectal Surgery for MedStar Health, and Professor of Surgery at Georgetown University School of Medicine.

Previously spent over three decades at Cleveland Clinic Florida, serving as Chair of the Department of Colorectal Surgery and Director of the Ellen Leifer Shulman and Steven Shulman Digestive Disease Center.

Renowned for groundbreaking clinical innovations, including the first surgeon in North America to popularize double stapled ileal pouch anal anastomosis and the colonic J-pouch.

Past President of major surgical bodies, including the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.

Prolific researcher and educator with more than 1,200 peer-reviewed manuscripts; serves as an Editor-in-Chief of the journal Surgery.

Holds Honoray and elected Fellowships from all four Royal Colleges of Surgeons in the United Kingdom and Ireland (London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Ireland).

Awarded Honorary Fellowships and dozens of national and international research awards from premier surgical societies worldwide for his contributions to the field.

Professor Peter Farrell

DSc. from UNSW and member of the United States National Academy of Engineering;

Leading medical device executive and entrepreneur;

Founder and Chair of ResMed Inc, a global leader in sleep device technology where he has served in
various executive and non executive roles since 1989;

Currently serves as Chair of Arcturus Therapeutics (NASDAQ: ARCT), and on advisory boards for the
Rady Business School & Jacobs Engineering School at the University of California, and WaveGuide,
an early stage company leveraging nuclear magnetic technology developed with the Harvard School
of Physics;

Other previous company directorships include NuVasive Inc (NASDAQ: NUVA) and Chair of QRx Pharma;

Holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Sydney, a Masters in Chemical
Engineering from MIT, a Ph.D in Chemical and Bioengineering from the University of Washington in
addition to many honorary fellowships.

Dr. Joshua Gunn

Dr. Joshua Gunn is a chief scientist with over 15 years of experience in diagnostics, specializing in the development and commercialization of novel technologies.

He is adept at navigating coding, coverage, and reimbursement complexities to ensure successful market entry and clinical adoption.

Josh is passionate about improving patient outcomes through cost-effective, innovative technologies.

He excels in leading multidisciplinary teams, forging partnerships with regulatory bodies, and ensuring that new technologies meet rigorous clinical and economic standards, ultimately advancing patient care.

The RrhoidCath™ Pain Management System, New MedTek Devices’ core product, is a medical device solution that is utilised in the postoperative treatment following haemorrhoidectomy, a surgical procedure to treat haemorrhoids.
